BD2K – Marking Benetti’s Day 2,000

A clip of the artwork for the limited-edition poster for BD2K.

A couple years ago, we decided to celebrate our 1,000th day in business, which turned out to be a fun way to thank our customers for their support and friendship. Monday, November 19 is our 2,000 day, which we lovingly refer to as BD2K. So, we have a few fun things scheduled to mark the day.

Don’t miss out on:

  • Free, straight double shots all day. And, we mean straight… right there at the counter.
  • A free, limited-edition, letter-pressed poster to the first 100 customers
  • The introduction of two new coffees to the lineup: a Natural Ethiopia Sidamo & a Sumatra Lintong Peaberry
  • A free, blind coffee tasting hosted by Nick from 4-6 p.m. We’ll showcase three coffees and reveal their identity later.
  • A special drawing for some coffee-lover’s goodies.

Green Coffee Offerings & Home Roasters’ Roundup

Over the past five years, we’ve enjoyed serving several customers who also roast coffee at home. With that in mind, here are two happenings to engage our friends who are roasting their own coffee and maybe introduce some new folks to the pursuit.

Grab-And-Go Green

You will now find a rotating selection of green offerings right on our retail shelf for you to take home and toast. It’s kind of like take-and-bake, but much tastier, right? Each origin comes with a good amount of information, and a starter roasting record card. These packs are portioned and priced by the pound, but if you are interested in a five-pound bag, we can talk turkey. This stuff is priced right and it is convenient.

Home Roasters’ Roundup

At the request of a few home-roasting friends, we are going to host periodic events to facilitate conversations and learning amongst home roasters. Our next event is at 3 p.m., Saturday, February 11 at our roasting facility. A special guest will be Jeremy Ferguson from Hacienda La Minita. Check this Facebook event or call us at 816-516-0893 for all the details.

The Caffeine Crawl After Crawl For water.org

Certainly, you have heard about the sold out Kansas City Caffeine Crawl happening on September 17. This innovative, educational event is Kansas City-born and we are stoked to be part of it. We are too distance-challenged to be part of the morning tour. So, we are hosting the super, after-party bash and water.org fundraiser at our place from 6-9 p.m. Admission is free whether you have a Crawl ticket or not.

The Attractions:

  • A lot of water.org raffles for food and beverage gifts, several coffee tools and a home espresso machine from Stella by Unic
  • Free training on a home espresso machine with Stella by Unic
  • Open barista practice on the new Stella Espresso Machine, on our counter for one night only.
  • Home Roasters Roundup (see below for more details)
  • Live music
  • Craft beer provided by the North Kansas City Beverage Company
  • Artisan sodas provided by GetReal Food Co., makers of SodaVie
  • Benetti’s regular drink menu available

Home Roasters Roundup:

Here is a rare opportunity for home roasters to gather for story telling, collaborating and exposing others to this growing craft. During a specific time slot, pre-registered home roasters will brown green coffee provided by Benetti’s, using their own gear from home. Then, Benetti’s will be hosting a tasting on Tuesday night, September 20 for any of the participating home roasters who would like to return with their product. The first twelve home roasters who register, and make a $10 donation to water.org, will get a spot in the Roundup tent.  If you are interested in participating, call Benetti’s at 816-516-0893, write to info@benettiscoffee.com or stop by the shop.
